About this page This page presents a dataset on load balancing practices in the Internet, for both IPv4 and IPv6. We deploy our open source tool in several monitors and conduct measurements towards different IP destinations. Our tool extends the Multipath Detection Algorithm and is capable of identifying load balancing as well as enumerating packet's header fields used by routers for traffic load balancing. We identify per-packet load balancing and classify different traffic load balancing behaviors, such as the use of IPv6's Flow Label header field. This page brings a real-time summary of our ongoing measurements. We also make our dataset available for download and exploration through Route Explorer.
