Raquel C. de Melo Minardi is Full Professor at Computer Science Department of Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais.
Holds a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science (2004) and a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics (2008) from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Commissariat à lÉnergie Atomique et aux Énergies Alternatives, France (2008–2009), where she participated in pioneering initiatives in metagenomics. She is currently a Full Professor at the Department of Computer Science at UFMG and a permanent faculty member of the Graduate Programs in Computer Science and Bioinformatics, both ranked at the highest CAPES evaluation level (7). She currently serves as Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Bioinformatics at UFMG (2026–2028), having previously served as Vice-Coordinator for two consecutive terms (2020–2024) and as Coordinator from 2024 to 2026. She was an Affiliated Member of the Academia Brasileira de Ciências (2019–2023), participating in advisory activities within the institution. In the Sociedade Brasileira de Computação, she served as Coordinator of the Special Committee on Computational Biology (2023) and Vice-Coordinator (2022). She also served as Secretary of the Southeast Regional Chapter of the Associação Brasileira de Bioinformática e Biologia Computacional. Her research focuses on Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, with emphasis on the development of Artificial Intelligence-based models, algorithms, and tools for applications in structural biology, genomics, biotechnology, and precision medicine, including deep learning, protein structural modeling, and biological data analysis and visualization.
